坂本龍一の ”鉄道員”:Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Poppoya"

本日も雪がしんしんと降っています。雪の日は、あまり寒くない事が多いです。そして、しんした静寂さがあります。もう少ししたら散歩に行こうと思います。
It's snowing again today. The town is painted white, and it still keeps coming down. It tends not to be so cold in days like this. And it tends to be quiet - sounds are absorbed by the snow. I will go for a walk in a little while, I think.

こんな雪吹雪のなかを歩いていると頭の中に流れるのは、坂本龍一が映画『鉄道員』のためにつくったピアノソロです。"ウラBTTB" にはいっていました。
When I walk in endlessly falling snow, I often hear this song in my head. It is the piano solo tune that Ryuichi Sakamoto made for the movie "Poppoya (Railman)." It was included in his album "URA-BTTB (i.e. Side B, BTTB)."

本人が演奏したいいビデオがなかったので、残念ながら違うバージョンで。こちらは教授の娘さん、坂本美雨が歌をつけたもの。
I couldn't find a nice video of this tune using the original version played by him. So below is another version with vocal sang by his daughter Miu Sakamoto.



これは数あるカバー演奏の中で特にオリジナルに近いような気がする演奏です。このピアノだけの音が雪の静けさに合うのさ、という訳で...
This is a cover performance, which I think is the closest to the original among available videos on Youtube. To go with the silence of falling snow, the piano solo version works better, so here it is...
